Description
* Objectives : The goal of PAFA-4R is to contribute to reducing poverty and stimulating economic growth in the Southwest, Hauts-Bassins, Cascades and Boucle du Mouhoun regions. 24. The development objective of PAFA-4R replicates that of PAPFA, namely : sustainably improve food security and incomes of farmers engaged in production and value addition in the value chains supported by the project.
* Project area : PAFA-4R will be implemented in the three regions covered by PAPFA (Cascades, Boucle du Mouhoun and Hauts-Bassins), where it will support two value chains (non-timber forest products and fish farming), and in the Southwest region where activities will take place around the six value chains indicated above. One of the economic hubs of PAFA-4R will be the Douna commune in the Cascades region, where the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government are funding the Leraba Plain Management and Development Project (PAVAL).
* Target group : The target group will comprise : (i) smallholder farmers and their grass-roots organizations ; and (ii) agro-entrepreneurs and related trades along the value chains. 28. PAFA-4R will target 70,000 direct beneficiaries belonging to 40,000 households, including 11,425 direct beneficiaries within the framework of the partnership with AfDB for PAVAL being implemented in the Leraba plain. 29. PAFA-4R will target women and youth in particular, in accordance with the sixth priority of the United Nations Integrated Strategy for the Sahel, as well as disabled persons.
