Présentation
The purpose of local economic development (LED) is to build up the economic capacity of a local area to improve its economic future and the quality of life for all. (Photo, UNDP) This project is aimed at providing capacity building support to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) towards institutionalisation of Local Economic Development (LED) as framework through which the public, business and non-government sectors work together to strengthen local economies in order to achieve rapid, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, create decent jobs and improve the quality of life for all. key among the project’s deliverables is the draft LED Policy and Strategy which will be essential in the implementation of initiatives aimed poverty eradication as well as economic and social empowerment of localities

Organisme mise en œuvre : It is implemented by the Department of Local Government and Development Planning in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development under the National Execution (NEX) modality. Local Economic Development, which the project supports, is a strategic initiative key initiative for poverty eradication.

Financement : The project is funded by the Government of Botswana and UNDP under a cost-sharing arrangement.
