Résumé
Water is one of the most valuable goods in the world. The rational management of water resources represents a major issue on covering urban, rural and industrial requirements, protecting the groundwater and preserving the quality and quantity of surface and underground water volume. Moreover, the prediction via current methods and the prevention for confronting extreme phenomenon, such as floods and droughts, constitute means of protecting the environment, in cooperation with legal constraints. Halkidiki represents a region with problems in water availability and the unrestrained pump of underground aquifers. Especially, during the summer period, the situation becomes worse and worse because of the increased tourist activity. Thus, only the proper management of the water resources in terms of the construction of the appropriate projects can deal with the problem of the demand satisfaction. WEAP model is an administrative model and a capable tool that combines the hydrology which defines the status of the water resources availability and the policy of managing water demand. Scenarios and the algorithm of priorities are parts of the model that contribute on finding the best solution of the water demand satisfaction at periods that supply is deficient. At the present project the water supply of settlements and the satisfaction of irrigation requirements from two reservoirs, Havrias and Olynthios, in Halkidiki area are being studied. Hence, six scenarios were created that show reservoirs’ efficiency for the next 30 years under certain circumstances such as a) the initial storage of the reservoir at the current account year, b) the variation of the inflows at the reservoirs and c) the different allocation of the demand sites. For the time period of 30 years, the results have shown that the Havrias reservoir and the Olynthios reservoir have deficit of water at the second and the forth scenarios, in the third year of the time period under very dry circumstances and when the reservoir starts working empty. The summer period due to high touristic activity and high irrigation requirements appears to be the one that has deficit.
