Résumé
This research allows to know the features of the morphologic and sedimentary characteristics of the coastal dune fields of Essaouira (Western Atlantic coast of Maroc) which has been built due to anthropogenic changes. Outcrops were studied from 2005 selecting the first artificial foredune with topographic reconstruction and sampling of surficial sands, generated in the second decade of the twentieth Century which has developed a singular morphology. A new morphologic classification of dune in temperate and cliff coast has been applied. These coastal dunes were studied but mainly over the artificial foredune under the geomorphological point of view, including the detailed morphological maps (actualized over satellital photos of Google Earth in 2008) with the main parametric units (crest, lee and stoss sides, etc). Textural and compositional (silica/biogenic carbonates) parameters were analysed on sandy fractions. Also, the isoparametric lines of textural and carbonate content were drawn. Textural analysis of quartz were made both roundness and morphoscopical characteristics and roundness of bioclastic grains. A direct application was conduced to deduce the sedimentary transport along the coast from N to S, determining cualitative y quantitatively the residual volumes of sand, and the erosive and sedimentary process in each segment.
