Résumé
This study was initiated during 2000 and 2001 seasons on sewy date palms grown under EL-kharaga oasis, new valley governorate.
This study aimed to throw some lights on the effect of varying bunch/leaves ratio on the yield as well as physical and chemical properties of sewy dates.
This experiment included five treatments from bunch/ leaves ratio namely 1:4, 1:6 1:8, 1 ;10 and 1:12 each treatments replicated three times one palm per each.
For evaluation the effect of the five bunch/ leaves ratio the following characters were measured during both seasons.
1-Number of bunches/palm
2-yield (kg) per palm
3-Bunch weight (kg)
4-fruit weight (g)
5-seasons changes in fruit dimensions (in2000 season)
6-fruit volume (CC)
7-specific gravity
8- fruit dimensions (height and diameter)
9- fruit shape index value
10-percentages of pulp
11- percentages of seeds
12- percentages of total soluble solids
13- percentages of total and reducing sugars
14- percentages of sucrose
15- percentages of total acidity
