Résumé
The aim of this study is to investigate paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental conditions during Late Holocene period from lake sediments. For this purpose, two sediment cores taken from Lake Hazar, in July 2007. Geochemical and physical property proxy analyses such as stable oxygen and carbon isotopes, TOC, TIC, XRF Core Scanner, MSCL of two sediment cores which were taken from the Lake Hazar indicate that the lake underwent significant centennial scale climatic changes during the last 4000 years. The geochemical analyses with XRF, shows that wetter conditions indicated by increased Fe, Ti, K, Si, S silisiclastic elements by river input and arid conditions indicated by increased Ca and Sr elements. Accelerator Mass Spectrometry 14C dating shows that some of these wetter periods especially 3100-2900 yr BP, 820-740 yr BP and 600-400 yr BP, also indicated by high magnetic susceptibility values in MSCL analyses. In wetter conditions, ? 18O isotope values getting lighter and TIC/TOC values decreased by river input. The arid conditions represented with high ? 18O and TIC/TOC values by evaporation. These changes may paralell global scale climatic changes as suggested by the correlation of our proxy data with global scale standards. 14C dating shows that some of these changes may correspond to The Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age transition, Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age periods
