Objectives of the Study The objectives of this study were as follows : 1) To describe the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis according to selected characteristics (age, size of farm, land tenure, level of education) ; 2) To identify the relative importance, as perceived by the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis, of specific agricultural competencies in six major categories of agricultural practice (cereals, vegetables, fruit trees, farm tractor and equipment, land forage crops, and general agricultural competen cies) and to identify the extent of the knowledge the farmers possess about those competencies ; 3) To calculate the agricultural training needs of the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis ; 4) To determine the relationship between selected demographic characteristics of the farmers in AlHassa and their calculated training needs in each of the six categories of agricultural practice ; 5) To identify selected extension teaching techniques that are most preferred by the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis and determine the relationship of selected demographic characteristics to preferred techniques.
