Objectives of the Study The objectives of this study were as follows : 1) To describe the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis according to selected characteristics (age, size of farm, land tenure, level of education) ; 2) To identify the relative importance, as perceived by the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis, of specific agricultural competencies in six major categories of agricultural practice (cereals, vegetables, fruit trees, farm tractor and equipment, land forage crops, and general agricultural competen­ cies) and to identify the extent of the knowledge the farmers possess about those competencies ; 3) To calculate the agricultural training needs of the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis ; 4) To determine the relationship between selected demographic characteristics of the farmers in AlHassa and their calculated training needs in each of the six categories of agricultural practice ; 5) To identify selected extension teaching techniques that are most preferred by the farmers in Al-Hassa Oasis and determine the relationship of selected demographic characteristics to preferred techniques.
