Résumé
This thesis shows innovative ways of using dual and full polarimetric SAR products for mapping and characterizing surface sediments and imaging the surface and near surface features in the non-vegetated environment like ; (The northwestern part of Sinai Peninsula, West of Qena ”El-Marshda” and East of Qena ”Wadi El-Matulla”). The methodology tests the performance of multiple polarization in characterizing surface sediment types (aeolian, fluvial and flood plains), texture (grain size, soil structure) and soil moisture as well as terrain properties (surface roughness, slope), all of which may provide important information about the geomorphology and suitability of the soils for agriculture in arid lands.
