Résumé
The problem of road traffic accident deaths and injuries is a worldwide public health problem. Therefore, the objective of this research is to investigate the appropriate methodologies to reduce road accidents problem in Egypt. Accident reduction can be achieved by targeting road factors to improve their safety performance. So, the present research involves developing several accident prediction models which can relate the accidents frequency to highway geometry, roadside activities, and traffic characteristics. from the results of the models, it can be concluded that several factors significantly affect road safety in Egypt as follows ; the right shoulder width (SW), the activity of the existence of farms in desert zone (DF) ; the motorcycles (MCS), the heavy vehicles (HV) and trailers percentage in traffic composition.
