Objectives

Global climate change is one of the key concerns of the 21st century, with serious implications for economies, societies and the environment. People around the world are becoming more aware of the dangers of global warming. The IPCC report draws a connection between human activities and natural hazards. Hazards affected by global warming include wildfires, dust storms, severe weather, floods, droughts, typhoons and hurricanes, increasingly becoming more severe. The issue of desertification in Africa where droughts have worsened causes the collapse of local agricultural production and results in more famines. The drier such areas become, the more water resources will be depleted. The increasing scarcity of precious water could eventually lead to major wars.
The conference addresses issues connected with the local and regional environment in arid and semi-arid regions. The conference will provide a forum for local and overseas experts to meet and discuss their research findings and the latest advances in climatic change and relate
