Résumé
This Ph.D. thesis characterised the relationship between Si accumulation in rice shoots and drought resistance. The findings highlighted that high shoot Si accumulation positively related to drought resistance. Silicon application enhanced drought resistance of rice through the improvement of net photosynthetic rate and plant water status. High-Si rice genotype had a capacity to accumulate larger amounts of Si than low-Si genotype, resulting in a greater shoot and root growth in the former under either non-stress or stress conditions. The findings suggest that the cultivation of high-Si genotype combined with Si application could enhance rice crop growth and water-use efficiency.
