Résumé
Distinct stages of plant development interact’ differently with environmental factors, being subject to specific environmental filters. This thesis studied regeneration of plants in fire-prone nutrient-impoverished ecosystems, focusing on changes in ecological strategies between early developmental and adult stages. Relationships between microenvironmental variables, species richness and seedling abundance were also investigated. Plant communities exhibited limited regeneration from seeds, mainly due to inherently slow growth of seedlings and scarcity of suitable sites for seedling establishment. Spatial heterogeneity and different plant strategies within communities play an important role in their structuring, contributing to species coexistence and the remarkable biodiversity in these systems .
