Endophytic bacteria reside in the interior of plants and may benefit host plant newlinethrough one or more plant growth promoting properties including nitrogenfixation production newlineof phytohormones induced systemic tolerance induced systemic resistance and antagonistic newlineactivities Nitrogen fixing diazotrophic endophytic bacterial community of crop plants can be newlineused for efficient landuse management to attain enhanced crop yield Thus understanding of newlinebiology of suitable endophytic biofertilizer agent and host plant relationship will have immense newlineimportance in sustainable agriculture Therefore the aims of present study were to study newlinetemporal dynamics of endophytic diazotrophic bacteria during various growth stages of pearl newlinemillet Pennisetum glaucum L R Br plants exploration of the potential PGPR isolates for the newlinedevelopment of efficient biofertilizerbiocontrol agents evaluation of effects of selected newlinebiofertilizer isolates on plant growth in laboratory greenhouse and field conditions newlineunderstanding possible mechanism of endophytic colonization of selected bacteria and newlinecomparative study of immune response of the host plant towards endophytic bacteria and newlinepathogenic bacteria newlineMethodology Diazotrophic endophytic bacteria were isolated from pearl millet at regular time newlineintervals during the entire cultivation period ERICPCR was used to type bacteria as well as a newlinebiomarker to track the identity of various isolates during different time intervals Representative newlineisolates of each ERIC types were identified by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis Data of each newlineERIC types corresponding to various isolates obtained at different growth stages were used to newlineestimate diversity of diazotrophic bacteria All isolates were screened for certain plant growth newlinepromoting PGP activities such as nitrogen fixation mineral phosphate solubilization and newlineproduction of IAA and siderophore Based on PGP traits fourteen best isolates were screened for newlinecrossinfection studies and for their effect on plant growth in laboratory green house and field newlineconditions T
