Descriptif
The present investigations were carried out to survey the vegetation of the cold desert areas of Spiti in order to study and document its ; - floristic composition - phyto-geography – phenology - medicinal and aromatic plants - phyto-sociology, and - ethno-medicobotany to bring out the rich heritage of traditional knowledge perpetuating in the region. The present study covering the above aspects and with special emphasis on the traditional knowledge about ethno-medicobotany is among the few pioneer steps being taken in this direction ; to document and understand the vegetational wealth of the area vis-a-vis man-plant relationships. The study, thus, is expected to prove an important treatise for this fragile, isolated and marginalised cold desert region of Himachal Pradesh.
