Résumé
Present research work explores the Isolation and Characterization of Secondary Metabolites from selected Arid zone plants . The plants selected for studies were Prosopis cineraria and Amorphophallus konjac belonging to the newlinefamilies Fabaceae and Araceae respectively. P. cineraria is the State plant of newlineRajasthan and is a very commonly growing arid zone plant where as A. konjac was newlineselected due to its rare availability in Rajasthan especially in Mt. Abu region. Both newlineof the plants are documented in ancient literature for ethno-medicinal uses. newlineTherefore, the systemic studies were authenticated and validate the use of selected ethno medicinal plant. Selected plants were successively extracted and subjected to isolation of their newlinebioactive compounds using column chromatography, high pressure liquid newlinechromatography and gas chromatography. Further, these extracts/active rich newlinefractions and bio-actives had these processed performed for various bio-efficacy newlinetesting. It was reported that P. cineraria possess 15 compounds isolated by cc and newline141 in n-hexane extract and 93 in methanol extract by gc ms where as compounds newlinefrom A. konjac 15 compounds from column chromatography and n-hexane contains newline130 and methanol possess 102 compounds by gc ms studies. Compounds isolated newlinefrom the A. konjac is the very first report as most of the studies were done on its newlineflour glucomannan and its properties. newlineAll the selected successive extracts (Petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform, newlineethyl acetate, methanol and water) of both plants were screened for various bioefficacies newlinei.e. antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-cancerous efficacies. Further, these newlineplants species were also screened for SDS PAGE (protein profiling) and DNA newlineFingerprinting with one of the related species. All the data show clearly that P. newlinecineraria and A. konjac possess huge potentials as drug and can be further screened for active metabolites and bio-potentials. newline
