Objectifs
The specific objectives of the present study are : 1. To analyse the geographical scene of the area under study. 2. To describe the temporal variation in urbanization process during the various decades(1901-91). 3. To examine the spatial distribution and functional structure of the urban centres. 4. To identify the centrality based hierarchy and the complimentary regions of urban centres. 5. To examine the morphological characteristics of selected urban centres. 6. To identify the regional variation in urbanization level and level of regional development. 7. To measure the degree of correlationship of urbanization with the development of various socio-economic sectors and with the total regional development. 8, To identify the problems and factors regarding the development of the region. 9. To suggest the suitable measures for promoting balanced urban and regional development in the study region.
