Objectifs
The present research aims at a detailed hydrogeological investigation by considering an integrated methodology for the assessment of ground water - its occurrence, distribution, quality and availability in Upper Bennihatla Basin which is one of the sub basins of Malaprabha River. The study has the following major objectives : 1. To demarcate geological formations and analyse the soil characteristics. 2. To prepare drainage map and to carry out morphometric analysis in order to identify the hydrologic controls. 3. To study the rainfall pattern and hydromeotrological conditions. 4. To find out the hydrogeological setup and to evaluate the aquifer parameters and water level behavior. 5. To determine various chemical parameters of groundwater and asses its quality for drinking and irrigation purposes. 6. To delineate the groundwater potential zones by using the results of geoelectrical studies. 7. To estimate the ground water resource as per the norms suggested by GEC 1984.
