Descriptif
The objectives of the present study may be briefed as under : To study the problems related to groundwater availability and utilization in the area. Spatio-temporal studies of groundwater depth. Spatio-temporal studies of groundwater quality. Sub-surface resistivity mapping of the area Integrated planning for exploration and management of groundwater resources.

Outline of the thesis :
In this thesis, research work has been divided in to seven chapters. Brief description of various chapters is given below : Chapter 1 deals with the introduction to water resources, global, national & regional distribution & usage, problems related to water resources utilization, brief introduction of geoinformatics and geophysical resistivity method. It also describes the statement of problem and objectives. Chapter 2 contains brief introduction about the study area, geo-identity, climatic conditions, and soil types. General groundwater regime, geological/Geomorphological description of the area has also been described. The methodology adopted, details of data used and images of different satellite data used have been explained in Chapter 3. In chapter 4, the spatial distribution of depth to water level, fluctuation with five year gap and long term fluctuation have been included. Chapter 5 explains about groundwater quality analysis for drinking/domestic and irrigation purposes, spatial distribution of water quality parameters have also been explained. Land use/land cover map of area have been prepared and correlated with groundwater quality maps. In chapter 6, the geoelectric characteristics of the study area have been determined for analysis of groundwater depth and quality. The Palaeochannel map of the area has been compared with the present geophysical subsurface resistivity maps. Chapter 7 describes the conclusions drawn on the basis of the present study. The recommendations have also been suggested for prudent use of groundwater resources in the area. The references cited in the present study are given in the end section of the thesis.
