Descriptif
For examining salt tolerance capacity of seeds of a succulent species Suaeda 1111dijlora and of a non-succulent species Ae !uroplls !agopoides during germination, experiments were designed in laboratory with different concentrations of NaCl, KCl, MgCI2, CaCI2, Na2S04 and MgS04. Combination of 100 mg. L" GAl with three concentrations of each of the said six salts was also used for assessing its effects on seed germination.

Thus, the present investigation includes consolidated findings on salt tolerance of selected species in terms of quantitative measures of phytosociology and diversity of halophytic species in relation to salinity in habitats ; comparative differences in salt tolerance of succulent and nonsucculent and semi-succulent halophytes ; and salt endurance capacity of seeds of 2 halophytic plants.
The thesis has been organized into chapters on review of literature, material and methods, results, discussion and summary and conclusions. The last and final chapter includes supporting literature
