The present study has been aimed to attain the following objectives To study the nature and characteristics of the self employment scheme. To evaluate the procedure followed by the DIC and the commercial banks for providing financial assistance under the Scheme ? 3, To assess the impact of the Scheme on the generation of employment, income and production, 4, To findout various hurdles in the smooth implementation of the Scheme, 5, To suggest appropriate measures for making the Scheme more effective and successful.
