Objectifs
The main objective of the study are,
(i) To understand meteorological , geomorphological and
geological characteristics of the area which have a bearing
on the occurence and movement of ground water.
(ii) To evaluate the aquifer characteristics of the
study area.
(iii) To delineate potential groundwater zones for
groundwater development.
(iv) To evaluate the groundwater quality for domestic
and agricultural purposes.
Rasipuram and Namakkal sub-basins are included in the water scarcity regions of Salem district in view of low annual rainfall and total absence of perennial rivers flowing through the region . The present work deals with the geological, hydrogeomorphological, hydrogeological, geophysical, remote sensing and hydrogeochemical studies to evaluate water resources of Rasipuram and Namakkal sub-basins aquifers comprising highly faulted and folded metamorphic rocks.
