Résumé
The present investigation was carried out at the Horticultural Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, B. A.College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the winter season of year 2003-2004 to study the effect of severity and time of pruning in Aonla (Emblica officinalis Gaertn) cv. Gujarat Aonla-1 under middle Gujarat agroclimatic condition. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications. There were thirteen treatment combinations, comprising of two levels of severity of pruning (P1 = 20 cm from top level and P2 = 30 cm from top level) and two levels of time of pruning (D1 = 15th March and D2 = 15th May.) tested over a three different levels of spacing (S1 = 8 X 4 m, S2 = 6 X 6 m, and S3 = 6 X 4 m) and control or unpruned in 8 X 8 m spacing. The results of an experiment revealed that pruning at 30 cm from top level recorded maximum new shoot length (40.87 after 60 days), fruit diameter (4.20 cm), TSS (11.71 %) and Vitamin- C (947.209 mg 100-1 gm of pulp). But various level of severity had shown non significant effect on number of female flowers, number of leaflet and number of fruits in 30 cm shoot length, weight of fruits per tree, fruit drop, fruit weight, pulp : stone ratio and acidity. New shoot length (30.58 cm), number of fruits per tree (1304.33), fruit weight per tree (38.03 kg) were maximum in 15th May pruning (D2).Whereas number of fruits (10.25) in 30 cm shoot length, diameter (4.16 cm),fruit weight (32.35 g), vitamin-C (951.92 mg 100-1 gm of pulp) and TSS (11.53 %) , was found maximum in 15th May pruning(D2).However the highest fruit drop (17.37 %) were recorded in unpruned tree (Po) and minimum fruit drop (5.75 %) was recorded in 15th May pruning (D2)
