Objectifs
Realising the significance involved in the topic, the present study is made with the following objectives:12 o To find out the nature of dependence of the Pengaparaja on the forest environment ; o to study various aspects of traditional as well as present economy of Pengaparaja ; o to determine various factors, both natural and man-made, causing deforestation and environmental degradation. Here the factors which force a Pengaparaja to destroy the forest and its immediate environment will be examined ; c to draw clear picture of the extent of deforestation in the area from historical perspective ; o to examine the role of oral traditions and traditional knowledge system of the Pengaparaja in resource conservation ; o to analyse the various exploitative forces operating round the region ; o to examine critically the governmental strategies for resource conservation of the region ; o to study various ameliorative measures undertaken by the governmental and Non-governmental organisations to stabilize the economy of Pengaparaja and to maintain the eco-diversity of the region
