Descriptif
The study viz. “Studies of Soil Respiration from different Landuse System of Manipur’ was taken up at three sites viz. Sacred grove. Sub tropical forest and Agroforestry system to address the following questions ; 1) Will the change in vegetation and soil characteristically impact C efflux ? 2) Is carbon efflux significantly different between the forest and, agroforest ? 3) What variables impact the soil respiration ?
To understand difference in carbon efflux patterns and discuss possible mechanisms for the change in efflux pattern from landuses like forests and agroforests in the region, we compiled and analysed data on vegetation characteristics (species composition, distribution, dominance, diversity, litter production, decomposition) along with soil carbon dynamics and physic-chemical properties of soil. The thesis is organized as below ; Chapter 1 - General introduction ; Chapter 2 - Study area, Material and Methods ; Chapter 3 - Review and Literature ; Chapter 4 - Vegetation analysis ; Chapter 5 - Litter production and decomposition trends ; Chapter 6 - Physico-chemical characteristics of Soil ; Chapter 7 - Soil Respiration
