Objectifs
In the light of the above mentioned facts about the soils of the region and probable effects of salinity and alkalinity on the characteristics of the flora the objects of the investigations are (1) To study the problem of salinity of arid land of Kutch district. (2) Find out hydraulic conductivity of soil samples from all Talukas of Kutch district to know mineralogical framework & soil structures which will ultimately decide water holding capacity and also movement ofwater through soil. (3) Find out hydraulic conductivity of amended and mixed soils. (4) Seed germination studies of some plants species as it is one of the basic aspects of ecophysiological evaluation, seed being device for reproduction, perpetuation and multiplication of a particular species so as to ensure its continuation. (5) Biochemical studies of some plant species which include effect of salinity/alkalinity on carbohydrate , protein and chlorophyll metabolism in Sueda midiflora & Trianthema monogyna. (6) Ethno-pharmacologieal survey of medicinal plants of Kutch district. (7) Evaluate some medicinal properties of plants to confirm the ethno-pharmacological survey observations.
