Objectifs partiels
(1) To make a detailed study of available literature and prepare a Review, analyze chosen data already published by others on cropped areas having groundwater use from tube well irrigation to augment the farming activity. This is to be by referring to data available in records like ‗reports‘, ‗research publications‘, ‗books on the subject‘ and others ; the analyses of these were to do and conclusions were to draw. (2) To make directly and personally field level data collection on ‗cost of cultivation‘ for groundwater irrigated farming vis a vis the income generation out of such practice for those who deploy tube well irrigation at a fixed number of villages. In three districts. Investigation was to be carried out by collecting data from farmers of Burden, Birbhum and Coochbehar. (3) To find out the consequences of adopting tube well irrigation in terms of the particular expenditure on that account vis-à-vis the other expenses on payment of wages, cost of seeds, fertilizers and plant protection inputs etc. (4) To make study of the pattern of actual income augmentation by the farmers who have adopted tube well irrigation in relation to the size of farm-land owned i.e., small- medium- and big-size land owners. The data from all members from these landowning class having been pooled.
