Descriptif
Taking into consideration the scope of work and necessity of groundwater research, following methods have been adopted to carry out hydrogeological investigations in the Palas basin under study. 1) To prepare the drainage map ofthe basin, 2) To prepare Lithological Map ofthe basin, 3) To identify geomorphological features,the type of plateaux on the basis of dissection, and to carry out geomorphic analysis that involves altimetric frequency analysis, slope analysis, determinations of drainage density, bifurcation ratios, hypsometric analysis, and the like, 4) To carry out lineament analysis with the help of topographic sheets, aerial photographs and satellite imageries and their interrelationship, 5) To carry out well inventory in premonsoon and postmonsoon periods and to determine the geohydrological parameters ; 6) To prepare depth to watertable maps ; 7) To determine the shallow subsurface lithological variations and groundwater occurence, by using surface electrical resistivity method ; 8) To determine the quality ofwater and to decipher its applicability accordingly ; 9) To carry out synthesis of these studies and to prepare a unified approach to groundwater investigations for development and management ;
