Objectifs
The main objectives of the present study are : 1. To study the analysis of mean rainfall, average number of rainy days, rainfall intensity, rainfall variability, ratio and frequency on monthly, seasonal and annual basis* 2. To study the elements of water balance of the district applying Thornthwaite and Mathur (1955) formula, namely potential evapotransplration, actual evapotranspiration, moisture adequacy, water deficit, water surplus, moisture index and aridity index on monthly, seasonal and annual basis. 3* To study the soil moisture elements of the district, namely soil moisture availability, soil moisture deficit, soil moisture adequacy and soil moisture aridity values on monthly, seasonal and annual basis. 4. To study the concentration index of land use, irrigation, intensity of irrigation and to study the cropping pattern, crop concentration, ranking of crops, crop combination, crop diversi fication, Intensity of cropping pattern and index of agricultural development. 5. To evaluate the water availability days and water availability calendar of the district. 6. To suggest crop suitability of the district based on rainfall, water balance elements, soil moisture characteristics, irrigation and cropping pattern, and water availability days and calender.
