Résumé
Chickpea productivity is constrained by biotic and abiotic factors especially wilt and drought in arid and semiarid areas of cultivation. With objective of combining resistance to wilt, drought and to enhance productivity, an investigation was carried out at College of Agriculture, Vijayapur during post-rainy seasons of 2014 and 2015. The experimental material consisted of 140 MAGIC lines derived from eight founder parents and were evaluated under normal and moisture stress regimes during rabi 2014. Forty best performing lines were selected based on five drought tolerant indices viz. TDS, MP, DSI, TDE and DPI. During rabi 2015, these forty superior MAGIC lines of were tested along with three checks (JG-11, JAKI 9218 and A-1) for physiological parameters and yield related traits under irrigated and rainfed conditions. Fifteen best performing lines of both season viz., 2014 and 2015 were tested for root traits along with popular cultivars (ICCV 10 and JG-11) and drought tolerant check (ICC 4958). The 40 drought tolerant lines were also screened for wilt resistance by root feeding experiment. Further stability analysis of these lines for yield was performed across season and environments using the AMMI model. The genotypes M-21, M-30, M-38, M-75, M-77 and M-82 showed wide adaptation across different environments i.e., they are suitable for both stress and non-stress environments. Whereas, genotypes M-108, M-103 and M-111 were suitable for moisture stress situation, while M-125 and M-75 for irrigated condition i.e., they showed specific adaptation. Out of 40 genotypes screened for wilt resistance, 4 genotypes viz. M-2, M-21, M-29 and M-54 showed resistance reaction. The present investigation revealed that MAGIC line M-21 was resistant to both drought and wilt with high yield potential across different environments and seasons. The genotypes with high yield stability can be further tested in multi-location trials to assess their performance.
