Drought resistance phenomenon in mutant derivatives can be summarized as below : 1) Identification of scorable molecular markers in relation to drought resistance in RAPD profile. 2) Pronounced root and shoot growth in gradient media screening method. 3) Longer root length. 4) More number of secondary roots and active roots. 5) Higher magnitude of protoxylem in roots. 6) Thicker leaf lamina and Palisade mesophyll height.7) Less stomata on lower side ofleaves. 8) Strong and bigger size stem girth 9) Stay greenness. 10) Balanced vegetative growth and reproductive growth. 11) Positive magnitude ofphysiological aspects in relation to drought resistance.

Present investigation emphasizes multidisciplinary approach using molecular markers, in vitro screening, and plant anatomy and plant physiology for effective utilization of resources to successfully introgress or breed drought resistant genotypes
