Descriptif
In light of the discussion presented above, this research aims to address the issue of UHI in the perspective of a developing country, with Delhi city as case under study. Delhi is a typical metropolitan city, experiencing urbanization in India (Figure 1. 5). The city presents a strong case for this investigation for following reasons ; a) Delhi is the capital city of India, one of the most developing nations of world. However, most of UHI research has been conducted for developed nations. The one developing nation so far covered is China. b) The city is perfect representative tropical metropolitan – Majority of literature available covers cold country cities, with recent focus on Middle East desert or tropical cities. c) Climatologically, Delhi is semi-arid – In contrast to other cities studied so far that are coastal, cold or hot desert (Phoenix) cities.
