Daily rainfall data of 41 years (1981-2011) were analyzed to ascertain 1 to 5 consecutive days maximum rainfall of Parbhani. The observed values are estimated by Weibull’s plotting position and expected values are estimated by four well known probability distributions viz., Gumbel, Lognormal, Log Pearson Type III and Normal. The relative performance of 4 probability distributions with respect to WeibulTs plotting position method applied to estimate 1 to 5 consecutive days maximum rainfall has been studied to understand the behavior of these distributions and to assess the reliability of design rainfall corresponding to various return period. Normal distribution with lowest Chi-square value found to be best probability distribution in predicting 1 to 5 consecutive days maximum rainfall for Parbhani. 1-day and 2 to 5 consecutive days maximum rainfall corresponding to return period varying from 2 to 100 years, basic infiltration rate and crop tolerance period, help in determination of drainage coefficient for agricultural fields. The drainage coefficients were calculated by subtracting basic infiltration from consecutive days rainfall for return period of 2, 5, 10 and 20 years.
