Objectifs
The thesis is based on four separate studies covering aspects of disturbance, vegetation dynamics, soil-nutrient status and seed germination along with seedling growth of five dominant tree species of Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary. The general objective was to gain knowledge that would support to formulate management strategies. Precisely the objectives are as follows : 1. To determine the life history traits and niche preferences of the woody tree species of the sanctuary. 2. Determination of variation in seed mass between and within species. 3. The effects of factors such as soil texture, soil moisture and light regimes on the emergence, survival and growth of seedlings 4. Effect of forest floor litter biomass on emergence, survival and growth of seedlings 5. . Determination of recruitment and survival of naturally emerging seedlings of selected species under natural conditions. 6. Measurement of biomass, bio-volume and relative growth rate of certain selected tree species.
