But et objectifs
Though many systematic investigations are being conducted by Central and State Governments and the other international agencies only very limited attempts have so far been made to integrate the information derived from various studies like hydro geological, geophysical, geochemical and remote sensing. The present work aims to generate and amalgamate the data of these studies to evaluate the groundwater resources of the sedimentary aquifer in Araniyar sub-basin. The main aim of the thesis is to study the hydrogeological condition of the Araniyar sub-basin using geoinformatics technique by developing groundwater model. The followings are the objectives to accomplish complete the study. ❖ To examine the morphometric characteristics, geomorphological features and land use/land cover pattern of Araniyar sub-basin ❖ To study the aquifer conditions using sub surface lithology and analyze the seasonal variations of rainfall and water fluctuations in the Araniyar River Basin.14 ❖ To delineate the groundwater potential zones and demark the vulnerable areas using Drastic Model. ❖ To suggest the suitable location of artificial recharge zones to augment water resources in the river basin, and ❖ To examine the cause and consequences of sea water intrusion and suggest the viable preventive measures to overcome the menace.
