Résumé
A total of eight date palm cultivars were assessed for morphological characters and molecular analysis through RAPD profiles. Among the six cultivars, the average maximum plant height was in Zagloul (8.86 m) and the minimum in Khadrawy (4.79 m), while the girth of trunk was maximum in Zagloul (1.81 m) and lowest in Khasab (0.95 m). The number of leaves varied between 50.33 (Barhee) to 34.67 (Khadrawy). The number of spines per leaf was recorded maximum in Khasab (20.33) and minimum in Tayar (12). The length of leaflets varied from 49.75 cm in Barhee to 39.50 cm Halawy. The width of leaflets varied from 16.34 cm in Halawy to 13.48 cm in Khadrawy. The chlorophyll content was the highest in Khadrawy (1.37 mg g-1 leaf) and minimum in Tayar (1.08 mg g-1 leaf).
