Résumé
The present investigation was undertaken to study varietal characterization and effect of drought stress on morpho-physiological, biochemical and molecular characters in seven hybrids of pearl millet viz. HHB-67, MPMH-17, RHB-173, GHB- 558, GHB-744, MP-7792 and GHB-732. The plot size were kept equal i.e. 4 x 3.6 sq m. Recommended row to row and plant to plant distance were kept at the time of sowing i.e. 60 cm and 15 cm, respectively. Results showed that plant height, days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, ear head length, girth & weight ; test weight, seed yield, stover yield, biological yield and harvest index were recorded maximum in hybrid MP-7792 as compare to other hybribs of pearl millet. Plant height, days to 50% flowering and days to maturity were minimum recorded in HHB-67. This is indicating that hybrid HHB-67 was 12.20% earliest to flower, 13.45% shorter and 7.89% earlier to mature than MP-7792 under rainfed conditions. Hybrid RHB-173 (26.93 cm) observed highest ear head length followed by GHB-744, MPMH-17, GHB- 558, MP-7792, GHB-732 and HHB-67.
