Présentation
This project proposal is aimed at addressing the thematic area stated by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF)-Small Grants Programme (SGP) in efforts to address environmental issues such as Climate change and Global warming in Botswana.GEF/SGP programme provides a platform for Community Based Organization (CBOs), Civil Society Organization (CSOs) to address environmental challenges by funding their ideas and implementing them on the ground. Green Habitat Botswana wishes to kick start a project of producing green compost manure/fertilizers from food left over(waste) from Hotels, restaurants, homesteads and any food production company to reduce the rate of waste that is dumped at lands fill which contributes to emission of greenhouse gases(Methane gas). Food waste will be collected three times a week from the places mentioned above to the compost pit, where it will be mixed with organic leaves from plants, saw dust from timber and water to start the composting procedure. The projectwill be carried out in conjunction with Botswana University Of Agriculture and Natural Resource (BUAN) in Sebele Content Farm, the target community will be the students of BUAN, Farmers, Backyard Gardeners. The innovation behind this will also help in reducing the bad odor from landfills ; reduce green house gases that causes climate change and producing compost manure through smart innovative agro solutions.
