Présentation
The Tsodilo Village is located 67km from Shakawe, 35km away from Nxamasere village. The village which is consisted of two tribes of Hambukushu and Ju/’hoasi (San) has been an informal (ungazetted) settlement for decades until 2013, when the village was formal given village status. However the Community continues to depend largely on Trust for their basic needs such as safe drinking water and income generating activities such as selling of handicrafts to tourist, tour guides around Tsodilo Hills and gate takings and camping charges. The available government services to the village include mobile health care, education at boarding school in neighboring villages and Ipelegeng program. The supply of safe drinking water to community remains a sole responsibility of the Trust as government’s plan to provide the village with water is yet to be finalized. There is also a need to connect electricity to community campsite to provide services to the clients. The Trust uses a generator to pumpwater to an increasing population of Tsodilo community. However the Trust does not have capacity to meet the water demand for the community in particular in light of regular breaking down of the generator and higher prices for fuel. The Trust does not raise enough funds to purchase and install solar panels which are reliable, sustainable and environment friendly.
