Description
The project aims to enhance the resilience and social cohesion of communities along the river in Burkina Faso’s protected areas to improve stability, which encourages development. The project’s specific objective is to ensure the sustainable and participatory management of the forested areas of the Mékrou Basin in Burkina Faso . The project also aims to help bolster anti poaching efforts (through training, equipment, information management and mentorship) by strengthening a unit of officers from the ministry of water and forests and facilitating cooperation with other security forces. A community component also complements anti poaching efforts to encourage the participation of communities, the gathering of information, the resolution of conflicts and the development of income generating activities.
