Provide reading opportunities to schoolchildren (Burkina Faso)

Burkina Faso

Titre : Provide reading opportunities to schoolchildren (Burkina Faso)

Pays : Burkina Faso

Date : Date non précisée

Contexte
Books are expensive in Burkina. Libraries are rare, especially in rural areas. Thus, people who live in these areas have little to no access to books. Students have no books to help them build their critical thinking skills and imagination and reinforce the lessons they learn at school. Illiterate villagers have no opportunities to develop literacy skills and read books to help them develop farming techniques or enforce other technical job skills.

Présentation
The motorbike will travel to primary schools in the Hounde area in Tuy province Burkina Faso and transport 400 books for both children. The mobile library will come to the school once a week and students will be able to take books to read at the school during recess and after school and possibly also check out books for one week.

Impact
With the mobile library, we will be able to provide access to books to students in numerous primary schools. In total, more than 1000 students will have access to reading materials, helping them develop and reinforce the habits of reading and critical thinking.
