Food for underprivileged families in Ethiopia

Ethiopie

Titre : Food for underprivileged families in Ethiopia

Pays : Ethiopie

Contexte
Most disadvantaged families are daily laborers who pick up odd jobs to make a living and provide for their children on a daily basis. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, most people are no longer hiring gig workers for safety reasons. With the cost of food rising dramatically, and the unemployment rate for underprivileged families growing rapidly, this puts a large number of families at risk for hunger. This project will aid 450 families by sustaining them with food supplies for the next three months.

Présentation
This project will help sustain families throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by providing food. It won’t be any easier to find jobs for the next couple of months, so Caleb Foundation seeks to help support families until it is safe again to go seek for jobs. Therefore, parents will be able to avoid the spread of COVID-19 by staying home because they won’t have to worry about providing for their families.

Impact
This project will educate and implement a new vertical farming technique for 50 families. Vertical farming suggested as a way to improve basic nutrition for families with little to no land for farming. It allows them to grow food without much space so that even in times of crisis, families can continue to support themselves, and eventually, they will rise out of poverty and be able to provide for their families. This is a sustainable, long-term solution to hunger for underprivileged families.
