Promotion of durable solutions in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile (Sudan)

Soudan

Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF)

Titre : Promotion of durable solutions in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile (Sudan)

Pays /Région : Soudan

Code projet : 20-RR-IOM-003

Durée : Project start : 20 Feb 2020 | Project end : 20 Aug 2021

Présentation
Given the large number of returns in Sudan, IOM plans to create favorable conditions for the sustainable re-integration of returnees in areas of return by supporting the most vulnerable IDPs and local communities members, including other vulnerable groups such as FHH, persons with disabilities and elderly, through a multi-sectoral response that includes the immediate delivery of basic services. Drawing on IOM’s strong operational field presence and previous experience supporting the return of IDPs and refugee across a number of rural villages in - among others - Darfur and Blue Nile, this project will ensure that communities are given influence over decision making through community discussions and community-led initiatives throughout all stages of project implementation in a way that accounts for their diversity, and allows the views of the most at-risk to be equally considered and to ensure that the most critical needs are met. Through the implementation of the proposed activities, this project will aim to contribute towards durable solutions through the provision of adequate standards of living, including promoting a minimum access to adequate food, water, housing, health care and basic education to those most in need. Furthermore, the proposed activities will also support communities hosting a large number of IDPs by ensuring equitable access to services for all to decrease the pressure and strain on the already limited resources available and mitigate the risks of tensions - as some IDPs may not return to their areas of origin and may opt for either local integration or settlement elsewhere in the country. The project targets 3,000 affected people with Multi-purpose cash and 19,390 with Early Recovery engagements.
