Présentation
WHO is using the $2 million in CERF funding to reach an estimated 158,009 vulnerable Somalis, including 43,444 women and 35,561 girls, with health interventions and strengthen readiness for disease outbreak detection and response ahead of malaria, measles, and cholera outbreaks. WHO is training 11 Rapid Response Teams (RRTs), 120 community health workers (CHWs) on integrated management of epidemic-prone diseases, 100 professional health workers on severe acute malnutrition (SAM) management, 120 CHW on EWARN surveillance, 200 CHW and professional health workers on infection control and prevention and 50 district health teams on water quality surveillance. Moreover, WHO is training 120 health workers on sample collection, packaging and shipment, expecting a total of 1000 samples of cholera, measles and other epidemic-prone diseases to be collected and tested. In addition, WHO is procuring 25 medical kit packages in health facilities containing cholera kits, SAM kits and sample collection kits. Finally, WHO is providing 1000 risk communication materials and training 200 CHWs on risk communication and awareness raising to raise the risk awareness of about 158,009 people.
