The Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo is considered one of the greatest in the world with its exceptional collection of rare woodwork, plaster, metal, ceramic, glass, crystal, and textile objects. It was heavily damaged in January 2014 by a terrorist car bombing. The overall objective of the project is for the MIA to become a Center of Excellence by contributing to the valorization of Islamic Art in Egypt through restoration, training, and promotion including the full upgrade and functioning of the Museum and one or more institutions and museums in Egypt.
