Titre : Infrastructure and Capacity Support to Health and Institutional Facilities in Somalia

Pays : Somalie

Durée : 06-Oct-2020 to 05-Apr-20

Descriptif
The Somalia healthcare system has been severely depleted as a result of war and continuous internal conflict. Nevertheless, progress has been made in recent years and the Government through the Ministry of Health (MoH) has taken strong initiatives to improve the overall health services in the country. The infrastructure sector of Somalia is in dire need of reconstruction in order to enable the fundamental public services delivery that serves the country, more specifically the services that facilitate and ensure the wellbeing of its citizens. MoH has requested the Government of Italy through Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) for UNOPS support in the rehabilitation of four health care facilities in Somalia. This will improve the current situation of communities having limited access to health care and will also contribute to achieving Somaliland’s health sector visions and goals in alignment with the Universal Health Coverage which Somalia has recently agreed to adopt. Through this project UNOPS is set to : - Contribute towards stability in Somalia with the expansion of health service coverage through the rehabilitation and operationalization of selected health-care facilities in the country. - Enhance awareness through Population dynamics study/census and improve health services through Health training. Institutional strengthening through hardware rehabilitation of health facilities for government offices use in case of emergency and other government institutional buildings. - Development of a citizen registry, which will enable the proper identification of citizens to receive basic services - Build a plan to identify buildings and places of architectural and historical value in the historical town of Eyl Municipality
