Palestine

Titre : Construction and installation of a 10-million liter fuel tank at the Gaza Power Plant

Pays : Palestine (State of)

Durée : 17-Apr-2019 to 31-Dec-2024

Descriptif
The chronic electricity deficit affecting Gaza over the past years has disrupted the delivery of basic services and undermined already vulnerable livelihoods and living conditions of around two million Palestinians residing in Gaza. The humanitarian consequences of the electricity crisis have been far reaching. The delivery of basic services, including health, water and sewage have been disrupted. This intervention seeks to expand the current fuel storage capacity at the GPP through restoring one of the 10-million litre storage tanks that were destroyed in 2014. The intended short- and medium-term outcomes are the following : Enable a more sustainable operation of the GPP at its maximum capacity, increase the quantity and consistency of Gaza’s electricity supply and mitigate the humanitarian impact of electricity shortages. The project includes the design and construction of 10m-litre fuel tank at the GPP in Gaza, which will enable a considerable reserve of fuel at times of shortcomings of power supply. This will allow GPP a buffer of two weeks for operation.
