Bureau des Nations Unies pour les services d’appui aux projets (UNOPS)

Titre : Strengthening border security for stabilisation in Burkina Faso

Pays : Burkina Faso

Durée : 01-Apr-2018 to 31-Dec-2022

Descriptif
Burkina Faso has been facing the deterioration of the security situation in recent years. The insecurity is mainly as the result of the expansion of the conflict in adjacent Mali. Extremists heading from Northern Mali to Central Mali have attacked the border areas between Burkina Faso and Central Mali multiple times. In 2016 and 2017, terrorist attacks occurred in Ouagadougou. To contribute to regional stability, improvement in border security between Central Mali and Burkina Faso is essential. The primary objective of this project is to strengthen border security between Burkina Faso and Mali, and contribute to the stabilisation of the region by improving the operating conditions of the border posts. This project also supports the Strategy for Development and Security (SDS) of the G5 Sahel. UNOPS is tasked with conducting and extensive feasibility study, procurement and provision of equipment (such as vehicles, ICT equipment, desk, chairs, etc.) community mobilization and capacity building for border posts between Burkina Faso and Mali
