Farmland soil carbon pool plays an important role in the global ecosystem carbon pool,and that can be directly intervene by human in short-term regulation.Returning green manure is an effective measure to increase soil organic matter and carbon storage.The research on the impact of green manure returning on soil carbon pool in arid oasis irrigation area of Northwest China is not systematic,which limits the scientific evaluation of the ecological benefits of green manure returning.Therefore,it is of great significance to clarify the effect of soil carbon balance on the utilization of green manure.In this study,the effect and mechanism of four green manure returning methods(i.e.,turning over the full amount of green manure,turning over the stubble,covering no-tillage with green manure and no-tillage with stubble)on soil organic carbon input characteristics,soil respiration carbon emission and soil carbon balance were analyzed.The main results are as follows :(1)Turning over full quantity of green manure and no tillage with green manure mulching increased the total carbon,organic carbon content and the microbial carbon of maize field soil.No-tillage with green manure mulching and no-tillage with stubble can increase soil aggregate content and aggregate organic carbon contribution rate in 0-30 cm soil depth.Compared with planting without green manure,turning over full quantity of green manure and no tillage with green manure mulching significantly increased the organic carbon content by 13.3-44.4%and 26.2-37.9%of soil aggregates ;no-tillage with green manure significantly increased the content of soil organic carbon in 0-20 cm soil depth before sowing and after harvest,with the increase rates of 6.3-9.2%and 5.4-7.9%,respectively.No tillage with green manure mulching and no-tillage with stubble increased the contribution rate of organic carbon for aggregates by 30.0-184.4%and 17.9-141.0%with particle size≥0.5 mm in 0-30 cm soil depth,respectively,and which was mainly concentrated in 1-2 mm particle size ;No-tillage with green manure mulching significantly increased soil microbial biomass carbon by39.5-69.0%in 0-30 cm maize at different stages.Among the different ways of returning green manure to the field,no-tillage with green manure mulching was an effective measure to increase soil carbon storage,and improved soil aggregate structure and increased the contribution rate of aggregate organic carbon(2)Turning over full quantity of green manure,no tillage with green manure mulching and no tillage with stubble had a significant influence on soil respiration rate,soil temperature and soil moisture.There was a significant positive correlation between soil temperature and soil respiration in different green manure utilization patterns and conventional tillage without green manure.The linear regression results showed that the soil temperature of 0-30 cm soil depth explained 70.3-80.3%variation of soil respiration rate.Soil moisture,temperature and organic carbon content were significantly correlated(α=0.001)with soil respiration rate.Compared with planting without green manure,turning over full quantity of green manure significantly increased the soil respiration rate before the maize filling stage.no tillage with green manure mulching and no tillage with stubble were significantly decreased the soil respiration rate by 5.1-17.1%、6.6-12.8%,respectively.But no significant difference after the maize filling stage.Turning over full quantity of green manure and no tillage with green manure mulching significantly increased the soil moisture by 4.2-15.3%and6.5-25.5%in the 0-30 cm soil depth.No tillage with full quantity of green manure mulched and no tillage with root returning of green manure after removing the above-ground biomass of green manure,the explanation of soil temperature on soil respiration rate was lower,which were 70.3%and 71.4%respectively.
