Soil organic carbon plays a vital role in maintaining farmland soil fertility,environmental stability,and agricultural development.Chinese dryland arable land accounts for 56%of the country’s total and produces 58%of its food and is mainly located in the North,Northeast,and Northwest regions of China.The soil organic carbon content is more threatened by the environment and human-made than other regions.We studied :(1)the effects of annual average temperature,annual average rainfall,average annual reference evapotranspiration,average annual drought index on the change of farmland soil organic carbon content,and regional distribution in the past 30 years.(2)the relationship between annual organic carbon change and fertilization methods,which is beneficial to reveal the law of soil organic carbon changes in dryland farmland in northern China and provide a specific theoretical basis for the government.The main conclusions are as follows :(1)The soil organic carbon content of dryland farmland in North China has increased by 15.6%,the Northeast has decreased by 10.4%,and the Northwest has increased by 3.5%.The initial soil organic carbon and the change value of soil organic carbon in North China,Northeast,and Northwest regions all showed a significant positive correlation.When the organic carbon’s initial values in North China,Northeast,and Northwest regions are higher than 9.86 g/kg,11.0 g/kg,9.67 g/kg,the change in organic carbon tends to decrease.However,when it is lower than this value,the change in organic carbon tends to increase.Among the main farmland soil types in each region,the soil organic carbon content of fluvo-aquic soil(North China region)increased by 12.4%,the soil organic carbon content of chernozem and meadow soil(Northeast region)decreased by 11.6%and 8%,respectively.The organic carbon content of loess soil(Northwest region)has little change,and the change of organic carbon storage is similar to the change of content.(2)The pH of farmland in all regions dropped.The soil pH in North China and Northwest China dropped by 5.2%,and the pH in Northeast China dropped by 4.9%.The average annual rainfall shows a downward trend in various regions in northern my country,but the change is not significant(Northwest>North China>Northeast).The annual average temperature of North China,Northeast China,and Northwest China all increased significantly over time,with an average annual increase of 0.05,0.04,and 0.06°C respectively.
