Résumé
The effects of unsteady flow on sediment transport are important for a variety of scientific, engineering and environmental aspects .This study examines two different scales of sediment transport, bedload and suspended particles, during unsteady turbulent flows, and aims to examine the effects of the unique flow fields on bedload transport, clustering of suspended particles, grouping, and their interactions. However, due to technical difficulties in examining the interaction between grouping and bedload it was agreed to separately study each phenomenon. The bedload study was conducted in Nahal Eshtemoa, an ephemeral flash-flood channel in a semi-arid area, and focused on two durations of the flash flood where the flow is most rapidly changing : a) flash flood bore arriving on dry riverbed and b) flash flood bore arriving on column of moving water.
